I’m back!

I’ve been off the grid for a while. I’ve had people asking why I’ve not blogged, but I’ve not had the words. I’ve had a difficult year personally and as a generally open person I needed some privacy.

Yesterday seems to have been a start of new beginnings. Catrin and I had a photo shoot for Wynne and Co, ready for our new website which is being built by the amazing Simon Davies-Lamble and his team at Curious

I was going to use the phrase “corporate” but the photos are anything but. I wanted them to show a true reflection of us as individuals and our firm.

So here’s my favourite one of me. Not usually one to like photos of myself I actually love this. I feel like his actually caught what I’m about.

Even as a young child I had an overwhelming feeling of what I thought was right and fair, what equality looked like. I also challenged this on a regular basis. Little did I know that this was ADHD at its finest. I’ve been called a trouble maker, arrogant and unemployable, when all I’ve done is stand up for others.

I’m not a fan of labels, mainly because I think they cause problems. Gender labels can lead to differences that don’t need to be there, Racial labels can lead to discrimination, Religious one can lead to war.

But I’m also collecting them. Mum, accountant, feminist, ADHDer, dyslexic (who the f*** decided on that as a word for us to spell?), friend, mentor, queer, disabled (I have stage 4 CKD).

Unmasking is like peeling back the layers of a growing onion, it’s going to take a while and as one layer goes another is being discovered. It’s both exhausting and exciting. I’ve too many people who have supported me through this to thank – plus a few who’ve done it on the quiet – you know who you are!

Whilst I risk offending others, particular thanks has to go to Catrin who’s been and continues to be my absolute rock in business and life. Often perceived as quiet or shy, she’s actually the strongest woman I know – an absolute power house.

So I’m back to blogging, I’ve a lot going on and I’m on a mission to change the world. I’m finishing my business book for women and I’m expanding my public speaking.

There will be people who don’t like what I have to say. So in the words of 17 year old Sarah Daniels who asked her A level chemistry teacher for help during class got the reply “what are you stupid?”

“F*** you”
